The recent events surrounding Carl Rushworth may prevent Swansea City from resigning the goalkeeper. Swansea City’s pursuit of Brighton’s Carl Rushworth has been hampered by recent reports that newly promoted Ipswich Town are interested in the goalkeeper.

Rushworth had a successful season with Swansea, where he continued his development away from the Amex in an effort to prove himself.

He has risen through the divisions over the last three seasons, first with Walsall in League Two and then moving on to Lincoln City in League One.

The 22-year-old is on the market this summer, and Swansea will most likely have to go above and beyond to re-sign their loan player.

According to Darren Witcoop on X, Ipswich are now following the managerial situation at Brighton and Hove Albion to determine whether they can make an offer for Rushworth.

Former Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi decided to quit the club after 18 months in charge.
While Ipswich’s approach is intelligent, Swansea will be concerned, as the Welsh club is anxious to re-sign the keeper on loan.

Swansea manager Luke Williams is disappointed, having claimed in February that he believes Rushworth would stay.

“I think he is going to be with us next season of course, but after that he is going to go on and be a top Premier League keeper I am sure because of the quality he has but also the personality he has to go with it.” The opportunity to become a top-level keeper may arrive sooner than imagined, with Ipswich’s promotion potentially opening up a spot in the Premier League.

In Swansea’s case, they can only hope that Brighton perceive Rushworth as a future number one and will allow him to return to South Wales.

Swansea must work to bring Rushworth back.

While Swansea are not a wealthy club, they should go all out to re-sign Rushworth after his impressive loan term.

His efforts at Lincoln City were outstanding, earning him a deserved shot at a tier-two team. His stay at Swansea only added to this, as he demonstrated talent far beyond his years.
He improved his game statistically by playing in all 46 Championship matches. Across these games, he increased his goals prevented to 4.02 and his saves to 143 instead of 117, although his save percentage dropped to 68.8% instead of 76.0.

While that statistic may annoy Rushworth, he has played behind a porous defense that has yielded an expected number of
