FLW looks at some additions that Swansea City should make this summer. Swansea City supporters will be hopeful that this summer’s transfer window is better than last year.
The Swans were active last summer, but only a few of their additions had any type of impact, and the club will need to be more strategic this time around to guarantee they buy players who will enhance Luke Williams’ team. Swansea appeared to be learning from their mistakes from the previous summer during the January transfer window, with players such as Ronald and Przemyslaw Placheta proving helpful signings.
Swansea need to reinforce in a variety of places this summer. With that in mind,
Here are some signings that they should make.
Marek Rodak
Former Fulham goalkeeper Marek Rodak is currently a free agent after being released by the club, and with plenty of Championship experience, he should be on Swansea’s radar this summer.
The Swans sorely need a goalkeeper now that Carl Rushworth has returned to parent club Brighton following his successful loan spell, and they’d prefer to sign someone on a permanent basis rather than signing someone on loan each summer.
The Slovakian international is only 27, which is still considered young for a goalkeeper, and he has 111 Championship matches to his name, including a key role in two promotion-winning campaigns at Fulham.
Luke Williams will be well aware that they cannot begin the season with only Andy Fisher and Nathan Broome between the posts, and it is critical that they buy a goalkeeper this summer.
Rodak, a free agent with extensive Championship experience, might be an ideal fit for Swansea.
Ethan Erhahon
Swansea City have Jay Fulton and Joe Allen on their books, as well as the talismanic Matt Grimes, but their midfield might use a shake-up, and Lincoln City’s Ethan Erhahon could be a fine addition to Luke Williams’ team.
The 23-year-old joined the Imps from St Mirren in January 2023, and he has been a revelation in the third tier, appearing in 50 games across all competitions last season.
He captained the team to a League Cup victory over Sheffield United in August, despite being only 22 years old.
Lincoln manager Michael Skubala called him “the best defensive midfielder in League One by a mile,” but he also recognized that the team will struggle.
to keep the Scotsman, and that the club expects to get a club record fee when he leaves. The former St Mirren player recently won both the Players’ Player of the Year and the Fans’ Player of the Year awards at Lincoln, so it appears just a matter of time until a Championship club comes knocking.
Swansea would be far better off investing in a player like Erhahon this summer rather than loaning someone from a Premier League club, like they did with Charlie Patino last season.
Troy Parrott
Swansea will need a striker this summer, and Tottenham’s Troy Parrott may be an excellent addition.
People will refer to Parrott’s dismal form at Championship level during previous loan periods (scoring only three goals in 43 games), but the Irishman had a very successful 2023/24 season and deserves another shot in the second division.
The 22-year-old spent the season on loan with Excelsior Rotterdam in the Eredivisie, and while he couldn’t help them avoid relegation, he did score 17 goals and five assists in 32 appearances, including two hat-tricks in the relegation playoffs.
The stay in the Netherlands appears to have put his career back on track, and he’ll be hot property this summer, with AZ Alkmaar already registering.
an interest in him.
With only a year left on his contract at Spurs, he could be available at a reasonable price, and Swansea should be interested in him this summer.
