There’s high confidence Bruce Pearl can successfully replace Dan Hurley at UConn : view

The Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman believes Auburn’s Bruce Pearl can successfully replace Dan Hurley at UConn, despite allegations that the Los Angeles Lakers are attempting to grab the Huskies’ two-time defending national championship head coach.

In fact, Goodman believes Pearl is the “only” option UConn should consider if the Lakers are successful in their Hurley chase.
“The only name, here’s the only name I would go after, there’s one,” Goodman stated on his show (h/t On3). “If I were David Benedict, I’d swing at, you know who? Bruce Pearl. That is the only one for me. He is from Sharon, Massachusetts. He’s currently in Auburn. He did a great job.

“He has been successful everywhere he has gone. He has the personality to match Hurley. Bruce Pearl is the only person who could get that fan following revved up to the extent that Hurley has over the previous few years. So if my name is Dave Benedict, that’s the only name I’ll call.”

Indiana, not UConn, is Bruce Pearl’s ideal job.
UConn has never been associated to Bruce before. Goodman may have a personal vendetta against Auburn, desiring to see the Tigers return to their pre-Pearl era on the court. Most Tigers supporters would agree.

Indiana has been linked to the 64-year-old, which appeared to be on the verge of firing Mike Woodson but ultimately retained the former New York Knicks head coach. Pearl has described IU as his “dream job,” making them a threat, but not an immediate one.

Pearl is likely to comprehend what climbing over the hump means in East Central Alabama: immortality. He still has a lot of energy and will most likely continue to instruct for many years. If he wins the big one on the Plains, no one will mind if he takes the Hoosier position and hands over Auburn to his son, Steven.

He most certainly wants to win the major one first, and he will ignore all other reports until he does.
