BREAKING : Barnsley now leads Shrewsbury Town and Bradford City in a race to sign 23 years old goalkeeper.

Barnsley, Shrewsbury Town, and Bradford City are among the clubs interested in signing free agent Nathan Shepperd this summer, according to Pete O’Rourke.
Barnsley are preparing for another year in League One after losing in the third-tier play-off semi-finals last season. Every club is looking to gain a head start on the transfer market this summer, and one individual who is attracting a lot of attention is Shepperd. The 23-year-old goalkeeper will become a free agent later this month, leaving Wycombe Wanderers just a few months after signing.

He didn’t play for Wycombe Wanderers after signing from Dundalk, where he made 79 senior appearances and kept 28 clean sheets in all competitions.

O’Rourke is now stating that Shepperd is coveted by a number of Football League teams. Barnsley, Shrewsbury Town, and Bradford City are joining Burton Albion, AFC Wimbledon, and Northampton Town in the hunt to sign the young goalkeeper.

Goalkeeper for the third and fourth divisions. At 23, he will seek consistent playing time, which will most certainly play a significant role in determining his future. Barnsley is the largest of the clubs suggested, and they will be looking to gain promotion to the Championship next season, but a move to League Two or lower down in League One may be better for Shepperd’s personal growth.

After a brief stint at Wycombe Wanderers, Shepperd may be looking for a permanent home. It would allow him to be the best version of himself on the field, emphasizing the importance of making the correct decision this summer.

It remains to be seen where he ends up, and it appears that this tale is still in its early stages. However, the sooner a team makes their move, the better their chances of beating out the other clubs vying for the 23-year-old player.

The former Welsh youth international currently holds all of the cards, and this is one to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
