Marko Marosi, who has been linked with Wrexham, Birmingham City, and Rotherham United, will officially depart Shrewsbury Town at the end of the month, according to their official website.
Shrewsbury Town will release the goalkeeper when his contract expires, and he will become a free agent while he considers his next move in football. According to the Shropshire Star, Marosi, 30, is attracting interest from fellow League One clubs Wrexham, Birmingham City, Rotherham United, and Huddersfield Town.
He told the Shrews’ website: “I want to thank the club for bringing me in and allowing me to be a part of its history.” I want to thank the managers and all of the personnel, not only on the football side but also behind the scenes.
I agree.
“And lastly I want to thank the fans for all the love and support you have shown me over the three years, you guys are amazing.”
Wrexham, Birmingham City, and Rotherham United want to become available.
Marosi began his career at Wigan Athletic, however he never made a senior appearance for the North West club.
He joined Doncaster Rovers in 2014 and went on to play 95 games for their first team across all competitions. Coventry City then came knocking, and he was a member of the team that earned promotion from League One in his first season under Mark Robins.
The former Slovakia youth international appeared 61 times for the Sky Blues before joining Shrewsbury Town in 2021.
Marosi had been the
Shrews’ number one over the last three years, but they’ve now lost him for nothing, which is a disappointment. What’s next?
Wrexham were just promoted from League Two and are prepared to compete in the third division.
Meanwhile, Birmingham City and Rotherham United have dropped out of the Championship, along with Huddersfield Town, and will be looking for an immediate promotion.
They may all see Marosi as someone to help their various goalkeeping departments, and he is now available.
