The Baltimore Ravens signed Derrick Henry this summer, according to Adam Schefter at the time.
Free-agent Derrick Henry has agreed to a two-year, $16 million contract worth up to $20 million, with $9 million fully guaranteed in the first year, according to ESPN.
Derrick Henry is already overjoyed to be a Raven since he will be able to play with Lamar Jackson, which is a dream for many fans, and he is relieved that he will no longer be the center of attention as a result of being teammates with Jackson.
“It definitely brings a different aspect, because he [Jackson] is a dual-threat quarterback, and he’s as dangerous with his legs as he is with his arm,” Henry told The Athletic. “It will be enjoyable and refreshing not to be the focus of attention, knowing that all eyes would be on him as well. But I’m simply excited to get to work, put in the effort, and see how everything comes together.” Derrick Henry was close to being traded to two “playoff teams” during the 2023 season.
Derrick Henry was very close to getting transferred before the 2023 Trade Deadline. With Tennessee trading players like Kevin Byard to Philadelphia, Henry thought he was also on the
Many assume that one of the clubs interested was his current team, the Baltimore Ravens. “I was a little wounded because I came in with KB, and we were the vets in the group who had been there the longest, so when they traded KB, I was like, dammit, if they traded KB, I might be next.
“Did you think you were going to because you were obviously brought up in a lot of speculation?” Compton asked.
“Oh I felt like it was close, it was really close,” stated Henry.”It was close, close.”
Taylor Lewan pressed the issue, asking if they were playoff teams.
Yeah, there were two, for sure; the other one, I’m not sure if it would have happened, but the one was really near. A lot happened with that little saga with the trade, obviously.”
Compton asked the Tennessee Titans star if he wanted to be traded or was completely against it. At the moment, I had no idea what was going on,” Derrick Henry said. “KB had just been traded, so I was trying to get my head around it. After that, I believe they are attempting to evacuate all of us. So I’m just trying to figure out what’s going on with my team, talking to my agent and seeing what he can find out because all this stuff
F is out on the internet about me being sold and swapped, so I had to inform my girlfriend; I had no idea what was going on. I felt like it almost went down.”
Compton also mentioned that both clubs were in the AFC, which Henry agreed with, and hypothesized that they were the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, which Henry never refuted.
