It is suspected that one of them shattered his ankle. The Canterbury Bulldogs won the game against the Parramatta Eels by two points, but it came at a high cost.
The team suffered three losses throughout the game, with Jacob Preston (ankle), Josh Curran (concussion), and Bailey Hayward (concussion) all leaving the field before the final whistle.
However, the latter two will most likely be ready for their next encounter, as the obligatory 11-day stand-down period will not cause them to miss any games due to the club’s bye in Round 15.
“Bailey Haywood and Josh Curran both suffered concussions; we have a bye next week, so they’ll be able to rest and return to full health,” Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo said after the game.
Thoughts on Josh Curran, who was medicated after receiving a knock to the head.
Jacob Preston will go for scans on a suspected ankle fracture.
Textbook lateral ankle sprain mechanism – foot rolls in stretching ligaments on outer side of ankle. Usually look worse than they are but can fracture fibula in some cases. If fracture confirmed – usually 4-8 weeks. pic.twitter.com/B2H59tXsVf

Obviously, there was concern about a concussion; luckily, there was no neck involvement, and he only needed precautionary stabilization before leaving. I have to admire Eels Joe Ofahengaue for staying with Curran. Curran and Hayward should be able to return for their next encounter, but second-rower Jacob Preston will not.
Assisted from the field in the 70th minute, the club reported that he was sent for scans after the match to ascertain the seriousness of the injury.
It is suspected that the ankle is shattered. “Presto has done something to his foot, not quite sure yet, but he’ll get scans tonight but the fact that he couldn’t walk off the field wasn’t a great sign,” he stated.
Cameron Ciraldo also revealed that Bronson Xerri had a little hamstring niggle and Blake Wilson had a shoulder problem throughout the contest.
“Bronson [Xerri] did something to his hamstring; that was the start of the second half, and we just didn’t have anyone to replace him with,” he said.
“Blake Wilson had an issue with his shoulder as well and just toughed it out.”
