LATEST NEWS : Chiefs Super Bowl ring accidentally takes a massive shot at the Dolphins

The Kansas City Chiefs awarded championship rings to players, executives, and team officials yesterday as part of their Super Bowl LVIII title defense.

Super Bowl rings, with their bling and glamor, are among the most expensive mementos in professional sports. Paying homage to multiple interesting facts throughout last season and into the postseason, there is a little nod to just about everything from the 2022-2023 NFL Season, such as 16 rubies for the 16 division titles won by KC, 19 diamonds for being the first team in 19 years to win back-to-back Super Bowls, 58 diamonds in the ring top to pay tribute to Super Bowl LVIII, and so many other neat placements and numbers to dedicate the championship season.

However, one major element appears to be a grave error made by Jostens, the NFL’s official partner that manufactures the championship rings each year. The ring top displays the final score versus each opponent, as well as the team’s playoff seeding. While this has been standard practice for championship rings for many years, the Chiefs and/or Jostens incorrectly listed the Miami Dolphins as the No. 7 seed in last year’s playoffs, when the Fins were actually the No. 6 seed. The Chiefs were the No. 3 seed in the playoffs, therefore they faced the Dolphins in the Wild Card round, who were the sixth seed.

As we all know, the Chiefs won that game in cold temperatures and went on to win their fourth Super Bowl in five years, as well as their third crown. That’s why Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and several other players received their third Super Bowl rings.

For most, this is a minor flaw that likely increases the resale value of these rings, but you can’t help but feel terrible when each error-filled souvenir costs $40,000 or more.
