According to Fabrizio Romano, Premier League club Brighton has initiated talks to sign a Leeds United player this summer, as James Milner’s side looks to attack Elland Road.
The Seagulls are on the market after hiring 31-year-old manager Fabian Hürzeler. After replacing Roberto De Zerbi, the Premier League club is now focussing on transfers, with a Leeds player being targeted. The Whites understand they must sell players this summer, as the 49ers inherited a big credit card obligation from Andrea Radrizzani after last summer’s takeover. According to the details, Leeds owes up to £190 million.
Promotion would have helped Leeds pay off the debts, but defeat to Southampton in the Championship play-off final at Wembley means the Whites will now need to cash
focusing on some players. Fabrizio Romano believes Brighton is now in talks for a Leeds player.
The well-connected Italian writer has gone to X to report that Brighton have begun discussions to sign the “exceptional” Crysencio Summerville from Leeds, with many Premier League clubs interested.
According to previous reports, Liverpool, Chelsea, Fulham, West Ham, and Bournemouth are interested, while Newcastle have held internal discussions about signing the Dutchman. Palace may also consider a move for Summerville. That is, if they sell Michael Olise or Eberechi Eze within the next six months. However, according to Romano, Brighton has jumped ahead of their competitors by initiating talks and making contact with Leeds for him.
Romano stated, “I understand Brighton has made touch to begin talks on the Crysencio Summerville deal. It is not an easy decision, with many clubs interested, but Brighton has begun preliminary discussions to investigate this option. Liverpool and Chelsea have been keeping an eye on him in recent months, but the race remains open.” Brighton is a smart option for Summerville, with one essential condition.
That condition is known as Kaoru Mitoma. The Japan star spent much of last season sidelined, but he remains one of Brighton’s top players. Despite his terrible 2023-24 season, there will be demand in his services.
If Mitoma stays, Summerville’s move to the south coast may not be ideal because he will have to play backup to the Japan star on his preferred left-wing position. But if Mitoma leaves, it is the best decision for him.
