Rayan Ait-Nouri is wanted after a successful 2023/24 season with Wolves.
The Algeria international had a comeback at the club after falling out of favour under Julen Lopetegui near the end of the 2022/23 season. The Spaniard left him out of multiple matchday squads, and his future at Molineux appeared dismal. However, Lopetegui stepped away, leaving Gary O’Neil to take over.
This would serve as a spur for Ait-Nouri, who quickly rose to the top of the list for the new manager, a position he maintained throughout the season.
Ait-Nouri excelled under O’Neil, making 38 appearances in all competitions.
His outstanding performances have recently sparked speculation that he may leave this summer.
However, Wolves fans can take heart from some.
Ait-Nouri has been identified as a player who could be released this summer in order to raise finances.
It appears that either he or Pedro Neto will be the club’s most likely ‘major’ sale this summer, but many fans do not want Ait-Nouri to leave.
Many believe it is Neto’s ‘time’ to leave the club after five years there. Some believe that Ait-Nouri still has plenty of room to grow and raise his market value.
We’ll see how things go, but Ait-Nouri isn’t planning on leaving at the time.
In an interview with the club, he stated, “I’m very pleased with a very good season.” We won.
There have been a lot of crucial games with the new manager, and my teammates and I am extremely happy, and hopefully this will continue next season. “The previous season [2022/23] was challenging for me, but I had a lot of confidence and knew what I could accomplish on the field, and this season I was able to demonstrate that.
“It was a very nice season for me and everyone. I’m definitely happy here.”
Should the £10,000-per-week gem If Ait-Nouri leaves, Wolves are expected to make a move for Ryan Sessegnon, who is about to become a free agent after spending time at Tottenham Hotspur. Ait-Nouri can still be sold.
It’s fantastic to hear Ait-Nouri is content where he is right now, and in an ideal world, he’ll stay.
However, money talks. Especially for wolves. So if a large proposal comes in for Ait-Nouri, the board will at the very least evaluate it.
He may be content at Molineux, but if the powers that be at Molineux believe a fair offer has been made, they will most likely be willing to sell.
Nonetheless, the player’s stance will be quite important. If he is actually happy at Wolves, he may not agree to a move away. Wolves fans would want to see him do that and possibly stick around for another year.
Certainly, Ait-Nouri enjoys working with O’Neil and credits him with helping him turn things around. It’s feasible that he’d be willing to stay to return his manager’s faith in him.
