The Potters could be about to bid for another goalkeeper. Stoke City are interested in signing FC Sion goalkeeper Timothy Fayulu this summer.

According to Swiss outlet KMedia, the Potters are contemplating a seven-figure bid to recruit the 24-year-old.

Stoke have had a busy start to the summer, with center defender Ben Gibson joining as their second signing of the transfer season following his release from Norwich City.

Prior to it, they had already signed one goalkeeper, Viktor Johansson, from Rotherham United.

The team is now said to be interested in signing another alternative between the posts this summer.

This season, the 24-year-old helped his team win promotion to the Swiss top division, and his performance earned him a call-up to the Democratic Republic of Congo’s senior national squad.

It also indicates that there is now a lot of interest in the goalie during the summer transfer window.

According to the most recent update, Stoke City are presently in advanced talks about signing Fayulu.

Indeed, the Potters are reportedly contemplating an offer for the goalkeeper, who is valued by Sion at €1.5-2.5 million.

As things stand, Fayulu’s contract has two years remaining, ensuring his future with his current club until the end of the 2025/26 season.

That assures that Sion will be able to negotiate any offer made for the 24-year-old this summer.

Along with Stoke, it is believed that Bochum, which finished 16th in Germany’s top flight this season before avoiding relegation via a play-off, is interested in signing Fayulu this summer.

To be honest, these reports tying Stoke with a move for Fayulu are somewhat unexpected.

Admittedly, the 24-year-old appears to be a good goalkeeper with the ability to work for a team.

However, the Potters have already signed one goalkeeper this summer, Johansson, who, unlike the Sion guy, has previous Championship experience and established himself.

It’s also worth mentioning that Stoke have plenty of depth in that position, with experienced players Jack Bonham and Frank Fielding also under contract with the club.

As a result, there appears to be an argument that they do not need to recruit another goalkeeper this summer, whether Fayulu or someone else, as things stand. Indeed, given the asking price Sion appears to have set, Stoke would be paying a considerable premium to accomplish this signing.

This, in turn, reduces the funds available for investing in other areas of the squad that require more reinforcement.

With all of that in mind, it would appear to be a It’s an unusual move for Stoke to bring Fayulu to the Championship this summer.
