Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly debating who to sign between two ‘new targets’.

Sheffield Wednesday are apparently pondering who to recruit from two ‘new targets’.

Sheffield Wednesday’s difficulties in front of goal were a major factor in their relegation battle last season, but Ike Ugbo saved them with his loan move in January. The Owls appear to be back at square one now, with the striker returning to Troyes and Lee Gregory departing on a free transfer.

Wednesday sorely need to improve their assault, and they have already renewed their interest in Ugbo, Duncan McGuire, and Mika Biereth.

It was recently rumored that they had already begun discussions with Troyes about a second agreement for Ugbo, although he is supposed to be drawing a lot of attention and might be expensive.

Sheffield Wednesday are ‘pushing’ for a new No. 9.
While the club appeared to be quite committed to pursuing the Canadian, it now appears they are looking elsewhere for ‘two new international targets’.

Ike Ugbo of Sheffield Wednesday looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke City at Hillsborough on April ...

Alan Nixon, a journalist, stated Wednesday is ‘pushing for a striker’. When questioned if it was Ugbo or McGuire, he wrote on X: “Two new foreign targets … but can’t seem to agree on which to go for internally.”

The Owls appear to have given up on Ike Ugbo chase.
It is unknown who these objectives are, but it appears that the club has conceded defeat in their attempts to re-sign Ugbo.

He would have been a dependable addition to Danny Rohl’s team, but paying seven figures for him may have been a risk not worth taking.

The Owls must move quickly to sign a new striker, but Nixon’s suggestion that the board ‘can’t agree’ on who to sign is quite alarming.

While we don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, it could indicate a schism between Rohl and Dejphon Chansiri in their transfer business. They can’t afford any problems this summer, especially after the German signed a new contract just months ago.

With pre-season beginning later this month, Wednesday needs to sign a new forward as soon as possible so they can have a complete pre-season campaign at Hillsborough and be ready to begin the season in August.
