Marco Knoop will ‘probably follow’ Fabian Hürzeler to Brighton & Hove Albion
On Monday, we discussed German arguments for why there is still some dissatisfaction in St. Pauli towards Fabian Hürzeler. The 31-year-old has left to coach Brighton & Hove Albion, and while it would be tough to deny him such an incredible – and perhaps life-changing – chance, there was dissatisfaction with how dramatically his stance had changed.
Hürzeler had spent a lot of time persuading St. Pauli’s players not to let success distract them from the forthcoming Bundesliga season, and then he left. Anyway, according to Tuesday’s Bild, goalie coach Marco Knoop would ‘probably follow’ the boss to the Seagulls.
According to Monday’s rumors, any move for Knoop would exacerbate the bitterness, but Bild’s approach has softened, and it is now regarded a likely move.
There is no mention of any compensation being paid to the 45-year-old, so he may have had a contract that allowed him to depart for free.
In the meantime, St. Pauli is actively looking for a new management.
