LATEST NEWS : Blackburn Rovers has announced the departure of 23-year-old potential star

Blackburn Rovers released Sam Barnes earlier this summer, and the defender has already joined League Two team Barrow.
Barnes worked his way up through the ranks at Ewood Park before Blackburn Rovers let him go this summer.

The 23-year-old had been a regular at Rovers’ U21 and U18 levels, and after some strong pre-season displays under Jon Dahl Tomasson, he appeared poised for a senior breakthrough at Ewood Park. However, injuries plagued his past two seasons, and as a result, he only appeared once for his hometown club before leaving at the end of his contract this summer.

Barnes is now back in the game and will continue to play in the EFL.

Barrow of League Two has announced the signing of the departed Blackburn Rovers player on their official website. The centre-back arrives on a free transfer, signing a one-year contract with the option to extend for another 12 months. Kicking on with the Bluebirds.
Barnes will be determined to put an injury-plagued two seasons at Blackburn Rovers behind him as he begins a new chapter of his career with League Two club Barrow.

Meanwhile, at Barnes’ previous club, Blackburn Rovers, John Eustace appears to be embarking on a significant few months of his own as he oversees his first transfer window.

The failures of recent windows may have left fans concerned, but with a new-look club leadership in place, Rovers will be hoping to make some eye-catching signings.

Since the market began last Friday, Northern Irish prospect Aodhan Doherty has been confirmed as the Championship club’s first acquisition.

It is hoped that more additions will follow shortly. Blackburn Rovers has previously delayed agreements till the late stages of transfer windows, which has been to their harm.

Avoiding such situations will be critical if spirits are to remain high heading into the 2024/25 season.
