According to journalist Alan Nixon, reports that Swansea City are preparing to recruit Sheffield United forward Oli McBurnie are inaccurate. The 28-year-old forward joined the Blades from Swansea in 2019 and has appeared in 159 games for them to far.
McBurnie played 21 league games for Sheffield United last season, scoring six goals, however he was unable to help them stay in the Premier League.
McBurnie’s contract with the Bramall Lane squad expires in June, and the club wants to keep him.
It has been rumored that McBurnie’s former club, Swansea, is interested in bringing him back to Wales this summer. Swansea want to add depth to their attacking line, and the 28-year-old veteran attacker has been connected.
The Welsh giants, however, are not planning to sign McBurnie, with such rumors dismissed. It has been stated that due to Sheffield United’s takeover predicament, new contract talks with McBurnie have been halted.
