According to French publication Massilia Zone, Marseille offensive midfielder Iliman Ndiaye has voiced his desire to join Everton this summer.
The Toffees made a proposal for the Senegalese international yesterday, but it was quickly rejected by the Ligue 1 club.
Everton and Ndiaye have yet to reach an agreement on personal terms, but the Merseysiders have been made aware that he is quite receptive to the move. Soon-to-be Marseille new manager Roberto De Zerbi will have a large say on the final decision about the future of the former Sheffield United star at the Stade Velodrome club, but it appears Everton have a chance of eventually landing their man, having had him
They’ve had it on their radar for quite some time. The 24-year-old finished 2023-24 with three goals and three assists in 30 league appearances, after a season in which he had 14 goals and 10 assists in 46 Championship games for the Blades.
Ndiaye is interested in returning to England, where Everton is providing him the opportunity to play Premier League football, and he may cost somewhat more than the £20 million Marseille paid for his services last summer. The Toffees must make a substantial sale before the end of the month in order to comply with the Profitability and Sustainability regulations, but that is not stopping them from completing a deal for the Senegalese attacker as soon as possible.
His adaptability has piqued Everton’s interest, and manager Sean Dyche might benefit from having such a player on his team.
Ndiaye can play across the forward line and behind the striker, and his defensive contributions, combined with his dribbling and passing abilities, should see him light up Goodison Park if a deal is completed.
