Rotherham United receive two six-figure bids for 24-year-old with Championship return

Rotherham United have received two bids for defender Peter Kioso, according to The Advertiser.
Rotherham United is preparing for life again in League One this season. Last season, Steve Evans’ side was relegated after finishing bottom of the Championship table. The Millers have become accustomed to the promotion and relegation cycle, and they are looking for an instant return to the second division.

Kioso, 24, played part of last season on loan with League One club Peterborough United. He appeared in 27 games for Posh across all competitions, scoring once and assisting twice.

Rotherham United recalled him, and Kioso became popular among the fans during his 12 appearances in the Championship.

This week, Evans stated, “There has been good interest in Peter from the Championship level.”

According to the most recent update, Rotherham United is considering two bids of up to £600,000 and £700,000, and it appears that the right back will go in the summer. Evans and Rotherham United had hoped to keep Kioso for next season, but he is unlikely to stay beyond this summer. The right back has one year left on his present contract, and it is critical that the club now negotiates to secure the best price possible so that they can reinforce other parts of the squad this summer.

Kioso is still very inexperienced in second-tier football, having made just 39 appearances over four seasons. He needs a steady run of games and a complete season in the Championship to truly realize his potential, and that opportunity may be right around the corner. There is no cause for fear.
While it is not ideal for the Millers, they remain optimistic about their chances next season.

They have been well-known for their promotion from League One, and they are expected to be among the favourites again next season.

Evans has the fans’ support, and if his team can get off to a good start, they could dominate next season. They’ve gotten off to a strong start this summer, and it doesn’t appear that they’ll slow down in their efforts to prepare their squad for a promotion push in the 2024/25 season.
