Sheffield Wednesday interested in former Cardiff City striker now playing in La Liga

Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing a La Liga forward, but they face competition from other Championship clubs.

Sheffield Wednesday made an incredible comeback in the Championship last season and are now aiming to build on their newfound optimism. Danny Rohl has already confirmed three signings for S6 this summer.

Ben Hamer, Max Lowe, and Yan Valery have all passed through Hillsborough, with the latter causing optimism among Wednesday fans following his brilliant 2023/24 season with Angers in France.

Familiar faces have also remained in north Sheffield, with fan favorites Barry Bannan and Liam Palmer committing to Wednesday for next season.

Rohl has now set his goals.

On attacking firepower, he is seeking abroad for a new striker. Who is Sheffield Wednesday target Sory Kaba
Sheffield Wednesday are apparently interested in Las Palmas attacker Sory Kaba, according to Darren Witcoop. The Guinean international striker has been suggested as an option to previous loanee Ike Ugbo, who was reputedly priced out of a contract with Troyes.

Kaba found himself making regular appearances in the early stages of the 2023/24 La Liga season, but he struggled to keep his place ahead of former Everton striker Sandro Ramirez.

The 28-year-old striker has experience in the Championship with Cardiff City in the second half of the 2022/23 season, where he scored an outstanding eight goals in 17 games.

Is Sory Kaba the right striker signing for Sheffield Wednesday
Kaba lack of gametime last season in La Liga suggests that the level may have been a step too far for the Guinean, who struggled to hit a run of form for the Spanish outfit.

However, his spell at Cardiff City in the second half of the 2022/23 season is one to be admired, with a notable run of seven goals in nine games throughout April that year. Sheffield Wednesday target Sory Kaba with Ike Ugbo move in doubt

His short yet electric spell in south Wales earned himself fan favourite status as he kept Cardiff City up from relegation.

Standing at 6ft 3ins, Kaba could be a real threat from Bannan’s set pieces, as well as having the ability of holding up the ball, something that could bring out the best in wide men Djeidi Gassama and Anthony Musaba next season.

His style of play and consistent form when fashioning his trade in England is one that should bring excitement to Wednesdayites, if he can hit the ground running then he could be crucial in Wednesday building on last season’s successes under Rohl.
