BREAKING NEWS : Millers claw some money back as defender moves back to Championship

Peter Kioso has left Rotherham United for Championship newcomers Oxford United.
The right-back joined Peterborough United on a season-long loan in 2023-24, and despite being returned in January, he couldn’t help the Millers avoid relegation to League One.

His debut season at New York Stadium was marred by a persistent ankle injury. The Millers are understood to have profited from the player they signed from Luton Town for an undisclosed amount two years ago.

Although all eight signings – Jonson Clarke-Harris, Joe Powell, Joe Rafferty, Liam Kelly, Sean Raggett, Reece James, Zak Jules, and Shaun McWilliams – made in a whirlwind start by new Rotherham manager Steve Evans have come on free transfers, he has hinted that at times chairman Tony Stewart has had to push the boat out to get deals done, implying that the business cannot be one-way.

Rotherham United will learn their match calendar for the next League One season, their first after two years in the Championship, on Wednesday morning.

Later that day, they will be drawn for the League Cup first round, and the next day, they will find out which under-21 team they will face in the Football League Trophy group stage. They already know they’ll face Mansfield Town and Bradford City.
