Everton join Tottenham in race to sign one of the best goalscoring defenders in Europe

A new report claims that Everton will compete with Tottenham for the services of a highly regarded defender.

Wilfred Ndidi, who is supposedly expected to agree to a new contract with Leicester City, will not be joining the Toffees.

They aren’t wasting any time, though, as they are already focusing on other targets after a new rumour surfaced connecting them to a player Tottenham is hoping to sign.

Federico Gatti is a target signing for Everton.
Everton is reportedly interested in recruiting Juventus centre defender Federico Gatti, who was formerly employed as a bricklayer, according to Tutto Juve.

The 26-year-old is reportedly of interest to Newcastle United and Spurs, thus The Tofees will likely have difficulty closing the transaction.

Furthermore, unless sales are forthcoming, his projected cost of £25 million may be a bit too high for Everton at this time.

Gatti is one of the top goal-scoring defenders in Europe, according to FBref, and the Merseysiders have long had an interest in him. They even made an attempt to buy him last summer, but Jive turned them down.

Most likely, the deal will wait until after Euro 2024.
It’s unlikely that a signing agreement for Gatti will be reached until after the European Championships in Germany.

The centre back hasn’t played in any of the first three games of the tournament since he is presently travelling with Italy.

On Saturday night, Italy plays Switzerland in the round of 16, which might give prospective suitors a chance to see Gatti.

Scouts from Everton are probably going to be at a lot of the Euros matches, trying to put together a team that can propel the Premier League into midtable.

A pivotal few weeks are yet to come.
