Miles Leaburn will spend six weeks at St George’s Park while he recovers from a major hamstring injury.
The 20-year-old Charlton striker, who had been garnering Premier League interest following a strong start last season, had surgery in December.
Leaburn has been moved to the England national team’s training camp to work with Game Changer Performance, which specializes in performance and recovery.
“Being out this long makes you realise how much you miss and enjoy playing football,” the attacker, who has 20 goals in 58 senior games for the Addicks, told the club’s official website.
“I enjoy getting out there and demonstrating my abilities – techniques and objectives. I cannot wait to get back out there.
“The club has been quite supportive in sending me here, ensuring that I receive the finest possible care for my hamstring and that it returns to its previous strength.
“They set everything up, and I’m quite appreciative. These are the best facilities available, with excellent staff.”
Will Abbott, Charlton’s head of performance services, oversees the medical department after joining from Brighton in January.
Abbott said: “While many footballers across the country are relaxing on a beach, Miles has been working extremely hard to restore his fitness and complete his rehabilitation course.
“Throughout his recuperation, his attitude, work ethic, and professionalism were exceptional.
He’s back on the pitch now, and I assume he’s starting to feel more like a player after spending so much time in the gym.
“It’s really, really important at this stage of his rehabilitation that he starts to progress on to his pitch-based work.”
Chelsea released Leaburn at the age of 16 and he joined Charlton. He had periods with them and Arsenal before joining the Blues at the age of nine.
His father, Carl, also played for Charlton, amassing 376 games.
