The Boston Red Sox began this season hovering around.500 for roughly sixty games. But they are now six games over.500 and tied for the third wild card place in the American League after going on a five-game winning streak and winning 11 of their past 15 games.
As a result, they have positioned themselves to be among the top purchasers at the trade deadline. They will probably try to improve their rotation of starting pitchers, and they might even call the Texas Rangers to inquire about former Red Sox pitcher Nathan Eovaldi.
Trade between the Red Sox and Rangers to return Nathan Eovaldi to Boston
As a member of the Boston squad, Eovaldi pitched 461.2 innings of 4.05 ERA ball, enjoying considerable success in his career. After playing for Boston for five seasons, he was able to contribute to their historic 2018 World Series victory. During the 2018 playoffs, Eovaldi pitched 23.1 innings and gave up just four earned runs.
For a second consecutive historic run this season, Boston may try to lure him back.
In order to acquire Nathan Eovaldi, two Red Sox prospects ranked in the top 30 are sent to the Rangers in this hypothetical transaction. Richard Fitts, the 10th-ranked prospect in Boston, is the main player in the deal.
Fitts is a right-handed pitching prospect with extraordinary skill who excels at hitting the zone. While he has demonstrated strong command of all three of his pitches, most major league organisations would prefer to see him with a fourth pitch so that he could face three different MLB lineups. After pitching 60.2 innings in Triple-A this season, he has a 3.86 ERA.
Guerrero is also a reliever with MLB readiness, not a starter. Throughout his professional career, the right-hander has made 99 appearances, thrown 122.1 innings, and has 28 saves. Although he has previously struggled with walks, he is powerful in and around the zone. He might be a significant reliever in the major leagues the next season if the Rangers development staff can get him into the zone on a regular basis.
Both parties would gain from this trade. Eovaldi might and should be transferred if the Rangers decide to sell and end up out of the postseason picture. If he becomes available, Boston is the best place in baseball for him to be.
