Colorado guard KJ Simpson was chosen by the Charlotte Hornets with the 42nd overall choice in the 2024 NBA Draft.
During the previous season, the 6’2″, 175-pound player averaged 19.7 points per game while shooting 47% from the field and more than 43% from three. He has been selected twice for the All-PAC 12 team and has played in 98 games (66 starts) in his career.
Matt Alquiza’s scouting report:
It’s his offence that makes KJ Simpson appealing. Along with some strong self-creation; he has good off-ball movement and floor reading skills. Despite his physical limitations most of the time, he has demonstrated good touch around the rim. He had trouble with the three ball in his first two years at Colorado, as was previously reported, but as a junior, he hit 43.3% on noticeably higher volume. This suggests that the improvement is not the result of pure luck, especially when combined with an 87.6% free-throw percentage.
