Hayden Coulson craves one thing after finally sealing Middlesbrough transfer exit

Hayden Coulson left Middlesbrough to join Blackpool on Thursday evening and has expressed a desire for stability following his permanent departure from Middlesbrough.

Coulson completed his transfer from Boro to Blackpool late Thursday evening, signing a three-year contract at Bloomfield Road, where he spent the second half of last season on loan. Boro earned an unknown fee.

After the move, Coulson told the Blackpool website, “I’m really happy to be back.” After having a great time here last season, I knew I wanted to return on a Permanent basis. It’s good to have some steadiness. I’ve received tremendous support from the staff, players, and fans, and I want to do everything I can to reciprocate that faith in the future. The Gateshead-born full-back, who graduated from Boro’s academy, has struggled for playing time on Teesside since his breakthrough season under Jonathan Woodgate. Hayden Coulson: Blackpool sign Middlesbrough full-back on loan - BBC Sport Aberdeen in 2022-23 was intended to be the end of his Boro career, as his contract expired at the end of the season. However, the change in management at Boro during the campaign saw new boss Michael Carrick and Woodgate’s return as his assistant, thereby modifying plans. Last summer, Boro signed Coulson to a new two-year contract with the option to extend it for another year. He was then given the opportunity to prove himself to Carrick and force his way back into Boro’s plans during the pre-season. However, after failing to do so, he made only three appearances at the start of the season before Lukas Engel and Alex Bangura arrived, and Coulson was instead loaned to Blackpool of League One in January. While the sum they now receive for selling him is unlikely to be considerable, it is nevertheless a fee for a player who appeared to be leaving for free just a year ago.
