The Blues are now evaluating whether to enter the competition for the young star’s signing following a campaign that drew the attention of scouts from throughout the Premier League and beyond.

Philogene can play on both wings and would help Everton in a crucial area if a move for the England youth international, said to be worth approximately £16 million, is pursued.Liam Rosenior feels Hull City can survive in the Premier League this season | Football News | Sky Sports

Following the departure of Lewis Dobbin to Aston Villa, the Blues now have only two wide players in the squad: Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison, who has already agreed to rejoin on loan from Leeds United.

Philogene would also fit into director of football Kevin Thelwell’s desired transfer strategy, which is to bolster Everton with young, promising players who can grow into stars at Finch Farm. Philogene is a graduate of Villa’s Bodymoor Heath academy, where the Blues’ first summer signing, Tim Iroebugnam, polished his skills after joining from West Brom.

Everton are looking to strengthen their offensive options, with Marseille forward Iliman Ndiaye on the verge of joining the club. Harrison has already been signed, but supplying Sean Dyche with further alternatives out wide is regarded as a priority. The week began with interest in Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh, without any chance of a trade at this stage.

The summer reduced when negotiations between the clubs about Dominic Calvert-Lewin potentially moving to the north east fell through.

Ben Godfrey flew to Italy for a medical ahead of his potential sale to Atalanta during a busy first two weeks of the summer transfer window. The defender is set to reach the final year of his contract this summer, and the Europa League winners’ move provides Everton with an important opportunity to boost the club’s financial position ahead of the conclusion of the football fiscal year on Sunday.
