Lakers begin filling out Summer League roster with multiple undrafted free agent signings

The Lakers continued their yearly ritual of signing undrafted free agents in the hours following Thursday’s 2024 NBA Draft. They began the process by signing Armel Traore and Blake Hinson to two-way contracts before moving on to Exhibit 10 deals.France's Armel Traore had predraft workout with Thunder - Yahoo Sports

Exhibit 10 contracts are essentially training camp deals. If the player is cut before the regular season, as is nearly always the case, there is a bonus for the player to sign with the team’s G League affiliate.

The Lakers made two similar transactions immediately following the end of the second round. First, they apparently reached an agreement with Sean East II of Missouri.

East averaged 17.6 points a game for the Tigers last season, making 52.1% of his shots overall and 45% of his 2.7 3-pointers. East also recorded four assists and 3.5 rebounds per game. What the Lakers Get in Blake Hinson

East’s free throw rate of 38.7% demonstrates how well he did at getting to the line, as he rated in the top-20 in free throw attempts. He shot 85.6% from the line.

Along with East, the Lakers allegedly agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal with another guard, Quincy Olivari of Xavier.

Olivari attended Rice for four years before transferring to Xavier last season. He averaged a career high in points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. He also shot a career-high 42.5% from the field and 40.9% from beyond the arc.

Olivari is listed as 6’2″, making him an undersized point guard. Olivari, like East, was a regular free throw shooter, finishing with a 39.3% rate. He scored 81.4% from the charity stripe.

If Jalen Hood-Schifino is medically available, the Lakers’ Summer League backcourt will most likely be set. Along with JHS, the roster will include Dalton Knecht, Olivari, East, and Maxwell Lewis.

If more signings are reported in the near future, the story will be updated accordingly Days before the commencement of Summer League.
