Wolves keen to sign ‘unplayable’ title-winner, his club can no longer afford his £300k-a-week wages

Wolves have had a great start to the summer, and the club has now been shamelessly associated with another player who is currently earning enormous money.

Wanderers have already signed Rodrigo Gomes, Tommy Doyle, Pedro Lima, and Jorgen Strand Larsen, with all of them poised to make their moves official tomorrow. Fans had hoped for a summer in which the club shown true ambition.

And it appears like Gary O’Neil and Matt Hobbs are on a quest to bring the squad in the best possible shape ahead of 2024/25, after it lost steam last season.

Last night, a big claim was made about a new player who Wolves are interested in.

Wolves interested in former Crystal Palace player Wilfried Zaha.

The Mirror stated that Wolves are interested in Galatasaray winger Wilfried Zaha.

The player only joined Gala a year ago after finishing off his deal at Crystal Palace. However, they appear to be unable to afford his £300,000-per-week salary and are willing to let him leave for a minimal amount. Officials at the club appear to have told potential suitors that he is available.

Zaha concluded as Gala’s top scorer last season with nine goals, and he performed admirably in his first season as the club won the league title. He also helped the team win the Turkish Super Cup.

Zaha is expected to accept a huge wage reduction if he leaves Gala this summer. It’s possible Gala may even pay him off, allowing him to leave for free.

Palace is eager to re-sign him, as Michael Olise is leaving for Bayern Munich. West Ham United, under Julen Lopetegui, have also expressed interest. This transfer link has surely appeared out of nowhere.

It would be a great surprise if Zaha, 31, joined Wolves this summer after only a year at Gala.

English football fans are fully aware of what Zaha is about. During his time with Palace, he established himself as a top player.

beyond the conventional Big Six clubs, he was frequently lauded for keeping Palace out of trouble. He also spent time at Manchester United between 2013 and 2015, however he only made four first-team appearances.

In April 2023, then-Palace manager Roy Hodgson described him as ‘unstoppable and unplayable at times’ (via London News Online) and stated that his status as Palace’s best player was why he gave him the captain’s armband against Leicester City.

Zaha would have to take a significant pay cut if he moved to Molineux. We’ll see what happens if the club moves some high-earning players and sells Pedro Neto. Even then, this seems quite implausible.
