Portsmouth’s head coach explains why two key players did not return for preseason training today.

Zak Swanson was absent as Pompey resumed pre-season training today.
Midfielder Joe Morrell was also absent from the club’s training facility as he continues to recover from an injury.

Morrell has joined Wales for treatment after spending the summer training in the Blues’ new gym. The 27-year-old is set to return soon to complete his comeback from a knee injury that has kept him out since January. However, Swanson was nowhere to be found once his contract with Arsenal expired this summer. Pompey chose not to extend the pair’s 12-month contracts, although Mousinho stated that he wanted to keep the door open for both men to stay.
