Gary O’Neil’s hunt for a striker is almost over, as Wolves prepare to announce the acquisition of Jorgen Strand Larsen.

The 2023/24 season was an interesting one for Wolves, who, while suffering at times, showed flashes of what they could become under Gary O’Neil. O’Neil made it plain during the season that he needed help in the summer transfer window since his squad was severely lacking depth.

The Englishman’s desires are already coming true, as Wolves are on the verge of announcing the signings of Jorgen Strand Larsen and Pedro Lima, who will join Tommy Doyle and Rodrigo Gomes as the club’s opening newcomers in 2024/25.

Jorgen Strand Larsen’s contract with Wolves is likely to expire soon. The representative of 18-year-old Lima was seen at Compton Park on Monday to finalize the deal, and Strand Larsen is expected to follow. Jorgen Strand Larsen: Wolves medical for Celta Vigo striker on Monday - BBC Sport

The Celta Vigo talisman is set to sign a £25 million loan deal from the Spanish club before making the move permanent. Now, Norwegian broadcaster TV2 has published details regarding the 24-year-old’s deal, including how long he will stay at Molineux.

According to the source, the striker ‘has agreed’ to a five-year contract with Wolves, with an option for a further year extension.

TV2 stated that the transfer will be an initial loan, as predicted, but the specifics are regarded as’more of a formality’.

It’s going to be a busy week at Molineux, with Lima and Strand Larsen due to be introduced as O’Neil’s new signings.

During his tenure in the Netherlands, the striker scored 36 goals in 71 appearances, earning him the nickname ‘very interesting centre-forward’ from talent scout Jacek Kulig. Last season in La Liga, the 24-year-old scored 13 goals, which piqued Wolves’ attention in what may be a great acquisition for O’Neil.

The Wolves manager was hoping to sign a centre-forward in January but was unable, with a number nine presence set to arrive ahead of 2024/25 in the form of the Norwegian international.
