Matheus Cunha was a fantastic addition to Wolves’ announcement video for Pedro Lima last night.

Tuesday was a busy day at Molineux, with two new players joining the club and the 2024/25 home kit being unveiled.

Wolves revealed Jorgen Strand Larsen as their new signing in the afternoon, and Lima was made official in the evening.

Wolves have had a very strong start to the summer, with four new signings.

However, with speculation surrounding skipper Max Kilman’s future ongoing, it is likely that some sales will occur.

But Lima is official, and Wolves’ announcement of him was outstanding.

A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that Wolves had reached an agreement with Brazilian club Sport Recife for the transfer of Lima. Lima had initially been all set to join Chelsea, with a view to going out on loan to French club Strasbourg. But Wanderers came in and poached the teenager, with a little help from Matheus Cunha. Cunha reached out to Lima, and helped to sell the Wolves project. And because of that, Wolves then made Cunha a feature of their brilliant announcement video of the youngster last night. The player hasn’t actually reported back to Compton yet, but the video is filmed from his perspective.

He assumes the post of sporting director and enters Matt Hobbs’ office.

He approaches the table, where there is a contract ready to be signed. It was previously signed by Lima’s agent.

Cunha then receives a message from Joao Gomes, who inquires, ‘Is Pedro signed yet?’ before gazing at his computer screen. Cunha then cheekily mutes journalist Fabrizio Romano after viewing his tweet on Lima’s agreement to join Chelsea, which included an image of the player made up in a Chelsea shirt.

Lima then sends Cunha a message stating, ‘Ready now’, before entering through the door. He then signs the contract that was on the table.

A brilliant announcement

This is just amazing work from the Wolves’ media crew, who are continually coming up with fun and inventive methods to introduce new players.

They’ll have a hard time topping Diego Costa’s, which had three genuine wolves.

But this Lima one is excellent, and it’s nice to see them focusing on Cunha, who played a huge role in bringing Lima to the club.

Initially, the £44 million man was dismayed to learn that Lima was going to join Chelsea, as he had hoped to bring him to Molineux.

However, when it was revealed a few weeks ago that Wolves had reached an agreement, the Brazilian was overjoyed, posting a 25-word reply on Instagram.

Hopefully, the attacker will now be available to assist his fellow countryman in settling in swiftly and smoothly. Wolves fans will have no doubts about this.
