BREAKING NEWS : Portsmouth key player has signed a new one-year contract with the club

Pompey confirmed the news in a post on their official club website this afternoon. Collins joined Portsmouth in the summer of 2022, having left former Barclays Women’s Championship team Lewes. The player has progressed to become an important member of the team’s backline. Collins made 19 appearances for Portsmouth in last season’s FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division, helping the club win the league title and advance to the second tier.

The player has the ability to make an impact in the Barclays Women’s Championship, and turning professional with Portsmouth will boost her chances.

After keeping Collins on a professional basis, Portsmouth manager Jay Sadler stated, “Izzy’s progression last year was fantastic.” When she entered the side, everything fell into place.

“I thought she was fantastic, particularly in the second half of the season. She merits the new contract, and she will undoubtedly play an important role in our future plans.

Collins is the ninth player to sign professional terms with Portsmouth this summer. She has joined colleagues Hannah Haughton, Riva Casley, Georgie Freeland, Jazz Younger, Sophie Quirk, Emily Pitman, Annie Rolf, and Ella Humphrey in signing full-time with Pompey ahead of the 2024/2025 Barclays Women’s Championship season.
