Southampton has signed Swansea City defender Nathan Wood.
The England U21 international joins Southampton permanently, signing a four-year contract.
Wood said: “It’s obviously a great club, a Premier League club that was in the Championship last season, and to come right back into the Premier League is a significant deal. I’m quite pleased to be here.
“It’s always been a popular club. Obviously, the football style is important, as is the coaching, and this is also a step up in leagues for me.
“When you consider all of those factors, it’s a no-brainer. It’s a simple decision to make.”
Saints manager Russell Martin also told the club’s website: “Nathan is a player I know and trust from our time together at Swansea, and someone I attempted to sign in my first job at MK Dons.” He’s an excellent defender with exceptional physical abilities, quickness, and ball control.
“What’s equally essential to us is that he’s a tremendous character who will fit right in with the fantastic team we already have here. He wants to prove himself in the Premier League, and we want to assist him do so.”
