Furthermore, the Gas have just lost midfielder Anthony Evans to rival League One club Huddersfield Town for £450,000.

Therefore, Matt Taylor, who is in charge of his first summer transfer window at the club, will be eager to bring in fresh arrivals, and it looks that Omochere is on The club’s radar.

Bristol Rovers joins Barnsley in the race to sign Promise Omochere. Journalist Alan Nixon revealed over the weekend that Barnsley are interested in signing Fleetwood Town’s Omochere this summer.

Nixon said that the Cod Army had set a £500,000 price tag on the player’s head after impressing last season, despite the club’s relegation from League One.

He also stated that the Tykes are not the only team interested in the player and will face competition to sign him, with Omochere eager to play in the third division again next season.

It appears like the South Yorkshire club may have opposition from their manager’s former club, Bristol Rovers.

According to Bristol Live, Omochere is a player wanted by the club and regarded as achievable following Fleetwood’s relegation.

Omochere’s contract with the Cod Army expires in 12 months, which means the club must listen to bids or risk losing him for free next summer.

Promise Omochere’s 2023-24 stats for Fleetwood Town

Promise Omochere joined Fleetwood Town from Irish club Bohemians in the summer of 2022, and the 23-year-old quickly became a member of the first squad.

Omochere appeared in 28 League One games during his first season at Highbury, scoring five goals and assisting twice. In addition, the attacker scored twice in four FA Cup games that season.

Last season, the forward’s importance grew as he appeared 34 times in League One, and this time, he scored six goals and assisted once.

The Irishman started the majority of the games for which he was available, since he was regarded as an important part of the club’s assault as it sought to prevent relegation to League Two.

Promise Omochere needs to choose the correct club amid the Bristol Rovers and Barnsley rivalry. It is critical that Omochere remains at a club where he will be able to play regular games this season.

It is not beneficial for the 23-year-old to leave Fleetwood and join a club where he would sit on the bench.Omochere was really impressive last season, so it’s not surprising that teams want to sign him.

Fleetwood are unlikely to be able to retain his services, but Omochere must ensure that it is the appropriate fit for him and that he will continue to play as much football as possible, whether at Barnsley or Bristol Rovers.
