BREAKING NEWS : Player has missed training to sign for Swansea City – Travelled for medicals today

Swansea City are about to complete the signing of Gonçalo Franco from Moreirense, according to reports from Portugal. A Bola report that the player has missed Wednesday’s training session with the Portuguese side as he was authorised to fly to Wales to finalise a move. Franco is set to undergo medical tests with Swansea City and then sign for the Championship side once they have been completed. The newspaper points out that this was Moreirense’s last chance to make some money via a sale, as his contract with the club expires in a year’s time, and so they have now sanctioned his exit.

It isn’t known how much Swansea City are paying for the transfer, though, and as newspaper Record also covers the transfer, they don’t seem to know that either.

He’s presently assessed by Transfermarkt at €3m, and considering his contract position, the sum paid by Swansea City shouldn’t be far from that.

Franco played for Moreirense for four years and was a key member of the team. He played in every league game last season, with the exception of a December match in which he was suspended.
