Davis furious Klay’s Warriors leave derails’storybook conclusion’ was first published on NBC Sports Bay Area.

As Golden State’s Klay Thompson era comes to an end, ex-Warrior Baron Davis has conflicting feelings about how the scenario unfolded.

On “The Draymond Green Show,” Davis expressed his unhappiness that Thompson agreed to a sign-and-trade with the Dallas Mavericks.

“I hate to see it,” Davis remarked. “Because you were infants, and it’s comparable to how we feel about Kobe here in Los Angeles, where you see people grow from young men to superstars to legends. So, as a Klay fan, I wish him the best.

“I’m a player fan first and foremost, so I support whatever the player wants to accomplish. But, as a Warriors fan, I hope they do the documentary, the welcome back, and simply celebrate the man the way he deserves. But shit man, the dynasty is done. This is not the storybook conclusion that is meant to happen.

Thompson, Green, and Steph Curry became the faces of the Warriors, who won four NBA championships and advanced to six NBA Finals in the last ten seasons. After negotiations with Thompson faltered, he wanted to be traded to another team, finally joining the Mavericks. The Warriors’ new look will now strive to compete in a tough Western Conference while still making the most of Curry and Green’s remaining NBA careers. Emotions will undoubtedly run high when Thompson and the Mavericks make their debut appearance at Chase Center next season.
