LAFARGEVILLE, New York (WWNY) A North Country product has been chosen in the Major League Baseball draft.

The New York Yankees selected Wyatt Parliament, a LaFargeville student-athlete and Thousand Islands baseball player who played college ball at Rutgers and later Virginia Tech, in the seventh round on Monday.

He is the Yankees’ fifth consecutive collegiate pitcher drafted this season.

Parliament, a left-hander, stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 215 pounds. He began his college career at Rutgers, where he started his rookie season before transitioning to relief work as a sophomore.

He transferred to Virginia Tech before the 2024 season.
