SHOCKING NEWS : Boston Red Sox player and World Series winner confirmed death after

Dave McCarty, a former Boston Red Sox player and 2004 World Series winner, died at the age of 54.

According to the team, McCarty experienced a ‘cardiac incident’ in Oakland, California.

The club released a statement saying, “Our hearts are heavy with the passing of Dave McCarty.” ‘He spent three seasons with the Red Sox and will always be remembered as a member of the curse-breaking 2004 World Series victory club.

‘We express our love to his wife, Monica, and their two children, Reid and Maxine.’ The former first baseman and outfielder played the last three seasons of his 11-year Major League Baseball career with the Red Sox.

He was at Fenway Park earlier this month as the Red Sox paid tribute to the club that won.

The World Series took place in 2004. McCarty, who attended Stanford, played 630 games in Major League Baseball for seven different clubs after being picked in the first round by the Minnesota Twins in 1991.

He also played with the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Marines, Kansas City, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and the Oakland Athletics before retiring with the Red Sox.

After retiring, McCarty remained in the Boston area and served as a Red Sox TV analyst for New England Sports Network.

His former teammate, Red Sox pitcher Lenny DiNardo, paid tribute to McCarty on social media.

‘This is really terrible news. I was glad to be able to spend time with him during our reunion,’ he stated.
