PWHL Boston announced on Thursday that defender Daniela Pejsova has signed a three-year contract that will last through the 2026-27 season.
“(I’m) definitely looking forward to putting on the green and white jerseys,” she remarked. “I will do my best to represent Boston both on and off the ice! I can’t wait to see what this new chapter will bring me.
Boston selected Pejsova seventh overall in the 2024 PWHL Draft. The 21-year-old from Teplice, Czechia, played six seasons with Modo HC and Lulea HF, winning two championships with the latter.
Internationally, they earned two bronze medals at the IIHF World Championship and were awarded Best Defender in 2022. She also represented Czechoslovakia at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Boston General Manager Danielle Marmer stated in the organization’s press release that the NHL’s Boston Bruins aren’t the only team in town with a Czech player to cheer about, referring to Bruins forward David Pastrnak.
“Daniela is an explosive and dynamic defender with bite to her game,” Marmer told ESPN. “At just 21 years old, she’s a natural competitor who wants to make an impression every time she steps on the rink. I can’t wait to see her take her game to the next level during her three years in Boston, and maybe beyond.
“The ceiling doesn’t exist for a player like Daniela,” Marmer concluded.
Pejsova becomes the third player from Boston’s 2024 draft class to formally sign with the club, following Sydney Bard and Hannah Bilka.
Last season, Boston finished 12-9-3, third in the conference. They swept PWHL Montreal in the first round of the Walter Cup Playoffs before losing in five games against PWHL Minnesota.
