Tata Martino has provided the most recent update on Diego Gomez’s potential transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion, with the midfielder nearing a move to England.
This weekend, news came that the Paraguay international will join the Seagulls this summer, with Inter Miami likely to pay up to $17 million for Gomez, who will stay in Florida until the end of the year.
Gomez has emerged this season as one of Inter Miami’s top players, starting as a central midfielder and winger, where the 21-year-old has thrived under Martino in a variety of positions.
And the Inter Miami player has revealed the latest on Gomez’s move to Brighton.
Martino hopes Gomez to remain with Inter Miami until the end of the year.
Speaking to the press following yesterday night’s victory over the Chicago Fire, Martino stated that Gomez’s move to Brighton is a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’, with the Inter Miami manager hoping that the teenager will stay with the Herons until the end of the year.
Indeed, Gomez’s move to Brighton may be made public as early as next week, and Martino acknowledged that the transaction would be completed in what will be a historic transfer for the Herons.
