Baltimore Orioles rumors are churning ahead of the MLB trade deadline, with the World Series contender expected to be among the most aggressive teams. While many of the Orioles’ trade targets are known, two fresh names emerged in MLB trade rumors over the weekend. Prior to today’s MLB games, it has been widely reported that the Orioles are very interested in Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet and Detroit Tigers starter Tarik Skubal. Both All-Star pitchers are top trade targets for the Orioles, but the team is also looking at more affordable possibilities.

MLB has set a trading deadline. According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Reds have alerted clubs across the league that they are willing to deal players on expiring contracts. Notably, according to Morosi, the Orioles are among the teams interested in Cincinnati’s pitching. Baltimore is allegedly interested in Frankie Montas and Nick Martinez, the Reds’ available pitchers.

Frankie Montas statistics (FanGraphs): 4.85 ERA, 1.36 WHIP,.243 batting average allowed, 18.8% K-rate, 9.9% walk rate, and 8.9% K-BB rate in 89 innings. pitched
Montas, 31, hasn’t been particularly effective on the mound this season. He’s missed time due to injury, and durability has been a reoccurring issue for him since his tenure with
The Oakland Athletics. The 6-foot-2 righty got off to a good start this season, with a 3.55 ERA in his first 25.1 innings. Martinez, 33, may serve in a variety of capacities for Baltimore if acquired. The experienced right-handed pitcher has pitched as a starter and reliever throughout his career, but 23 of his 25 appearances this season have come from the bullpen. He hasn’t tossed more than four innings in a game since May, but he can typically cover 2-3 innings in a relief appearance.
Nick Martinez’s statistics (ESPN): 3.88 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 56 strikeouts, 9 walks, 72 hits allowed in 72 innings.
