Alberta Premier Danielle Smith sent two bottles of Foothills whisky to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to fulfill a Stanley Cup wager. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith made good on a Stanley Cup wager by sending two bottles of Foothills whisky to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
“I just received two bottles of Canadian whisky,” DeSantis stated in a video broadcast on X (previously Twitter) on July 22. “This looks really, really, good.”
Smith sent a bottle of Highwood Distillery’s Sweet Sippin’ Original Maple Whisky and another bottle of Eau Claire Distillery’s Canadian Rye Whisky.
Highwood Distillery is located in High River, whereas Eau Claire Distillery is in Diamond Valley.

DeSantis announced that the whiskies will be served at the governor’s residence in Tallahassee, Florida.
The two leaders wagered on the Stanley Cup Final between the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers.
“It all rided on Game 7, and the Panthers were able to pull it out,” DeSantis told the media.
DeSantis stated that Florida has three of the previous five Stanley Cup champions.
“We’re the most tropical state in the United States, and yet, we’ve now become a really strong hockey state.”
