The Los Angeles Dodgers are anticipated to be active before next week’s MLB trade deadline. They continue to be linked to outfield and rotation upgrades.
Los Angeles enters MLB games today with a 61-41 record and an 8.5-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League West, but they are dealing with serious injuries.

Tyler Glasnow will return from the injured list Wednesday night. Walker Buehler remains on the shelves. Clayton Kershaw will make his season debut on Thursday. Meanwhile, fellow starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto will not return until next month.

As the MLB trade deadline approaches in less than a week, Los Angeles has been linked to many starting pitchers. Unfortunately, there is some bad news regarding this front.

Top Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Kyle Hurt to undergo Tommy John Surgery

Doug McKain of Dodgers Nation was the first to report that Hurt, 26, is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery. The righty will miss at least 12 months and may be out until the 2025 MLB season. This might be a huge setback for the Dodgers as they look to enhance ahead of the deadline. Hurt was ranked by MLB as the Dodgers’ No. 5 prospect entering the season.

Hurt arrived in Los Angeles from the Miami Marlins in the Dylan Floro trade following the 2020 season and has significantly improved the organization’s farm system since then.

This season, he participated in three Dodgers games (one start), pitching 6.2 innings with a 1.35 ERA. A former fifth-round pick from Sure, the Dodgers have other prospects to offer up. But this could potentially impact them when it comes to making a blockbuster trade. Los Angeles has been linked to Garrett Crochet of the Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal over the past several weeks.
