Wolves fans had the opportunity to get to know Joao Gomes better this week when the club released a documentary on the player’s journey to Molineux.
Wanderers have been monitoring the Brazilian behind the scenes, and on Monday night, the club shared ‘Joao Gomes: The Pitbull’ on social media. The movie includes footage from Gomes’ younger days, and the player discusses how he came to play for Wanderers.
Gomes commented about how much Matheus Cunha has benefited him since joining the club.
He also lauded manager Gary O’Neil, who he thinks is more concerned about him than some of his own family members.

When asked how it has affected him throughout his life, Gomes responds, “It used to be something that saddened me and kind of blocked me, you know?”
“I’ve always wanted to express myself, but I felt limited and inferior.
“Now that I’m at peace with it and accept myself more, I’m more determined to speak up and express myself.
“I obviously take longer to communicate, but that’s something people have to respect.”
Gomes then discusses O’Neil and how understanding he has been. He says the head coach gave him a lot of confidence at Molineux.
The documentary then shows footage from last season’s training session of O’Neil and Gomes discussing tactics, and it’s nice to see the player expressing himself openly and confidently. Following the documentary’s publication, fans praised Gomes for bringing attention to his stammer, and he received a heartfelt greeting from his international colleague Lucas Paqueta.

It’s amazing to see Paqueta react to Wolves’ documentary about Gomes, as well as to a situation that his friend has had to deal with his entire life.
It has to be mentioned that Gomes is very inspirational. His newfound optimism about his stammer will undoubtedly benefit many people who are down.
He has not allowed his stammer to define him, and he has built a highly successful profession for himself, for which he deserves all of the world’s admiration.
Many children with the same dream will find great motivation in his path.
