Excitement is mounting in France as the 2024 Paris Olympics kick begin on Friday with a glittering ceremony in the capital. For the first time, the ceremony will be held outside of a stadium, with athletes participating in a river parade involving over 100 boats drifting down the Seine. The march will pass by notable monuments such as Notre Dame and the Louvre before concluding near the Eiffel Tower, where the Olympic cauldron will be lighted and the Games officially begin.

NBA star LeBron James has been picked as Team USA’s male flagbearer for the opening ceremony of the Paris Games, where he will compete in his fourth Olympics. What’s Next for Team USA
The USMNT will play red-hot favourites France, led by Thierry Henry, in their opening match. Following that, games against New Zealand and Guinea will determine who advances to the knockout rounds. For the USWNT, much will be expected of Emma Hayes’ team, particularly after disappointment at World Cup 2023. The team will also face Germany and Australia, with Hayes looking to win gold in his debut event.
