The midfielder leaves the Seagulls following an outstanding two-year loan spell at Northampton.
Marc Leonard has signed a permanent deal with League One club Birmingham City for a price believed to be in the region of £500,000.
The Scottish midfielder leaves after two first-team outings for the Seagulls, both of which came in the EFL Cup.
Leonard told the Birmingham FC website: “Based on where I am in my career and where Birmingham are trying to get to, I just felt like the ambition of this club really matched my own.”I felt the time was perfect [to leave Brighton], and I knew that Blues was the team that I wanted to play for, so I pushed for the trade.
“To go through.” The 22-year-old joined Brighton from Hearts in 2018 and captained both the under-18 and under-21 teams before spending the last two seasons on loan at Northampton Town.

Brighton won 5-1 against Kashima Antlers during their pre-season trip to Japan. Goals were scored by Yankuba Minteh, Jeremy Sarmiento, Yasin Ayari, and Amario Cozier-Duberry.
Central midfield is a concern for incoming head coach Fabian Hurzeler, as Pascal Gross’s future is uncertain, while Napoli continues to pursue Billy Gilmour.
Brighton rejected the Italian’s original approach of £8 million, but Napoli is set to return with a larger offer for the Scotland international.
“We have turned down one offer from them,” Brighton manager Paul Barber announced earlier this week. “Billy has been a crucial player for us, and we’re eager to keep him. He’s a tremendous footballer with a great personality. “Around this squad.”
