The Kansas City Royals would be in the playoffs if the 2024 Major League Baseball season ended today.
Kansas City presently owns the final American League Wild Card berth, with a 56-47 record. Few people anticipated the Royals to be this good this season. Kansas City made several strategic free-agent bets this summer, which have mostly worked out.
The Royals also boast Bobby Witt Jr., one of baseball’s top young players. Overall, things are looking good for Kansas City. A great deadline might only serve to solidify this reality, and Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer linked the Royals to Tampa Bay Rays All-Star Randy Arozarena.
“Outfield production has been essentially
Rymer stated that the Royals will be nonexistent in 2024. “Their outfielders are ranked 27th with 1.2 WAR and 29th with a.640 OPS. As a result, you can see why general manager J.J. Picollo wants to add an outfielder. However, as of late June, Picollo did not appear to be particularly devoted to trading aggressively. He appears to be aware that the club’s contention window has just recently opened, to say nothing of the club’s weak farm system.”
Kansas City needs some outfield help, and Arozarena appears to be on his way out of Tampa Bay. He struggled at the start of the year, but has recently looked more like himself. He is a one-time All-Star and the 2021 American League Rookie of the Year.
Year.
The Royals require a lift, and Arozarena may be that person.
