BREAKING NEWS : Portsmouth boss’ forceful transfer message as activity kicks into gear

As Pompey’s activity ramped up, John Mousinho remained certain that they would not give up on their transfer strategy.
And the Blues’ manager advised against compromising on getting the right players at the wrong moment this summer.

The Fratton faithful’s patience was rewarded yesterday when Aussie left-back Jacob Farrell arrived, ending a three-and-a-half week wait for signings.
Farrell became the sixth signing of the summer, while defender Zak Swanson committed to Pompey’s Championship campaign for the next year.

Some important signings are still needed, with the Blues trying to strengthen the center of the park ahead of a challenging season. The football operation has been preaching patience, with Mousinho emphasizing that targets have not yet been abandoned this summer. Pompey is now convinced that its recruitment process is on the right track after securing another newcomer.

No compromise': Portsmouth boss' forceful transfer message as activity kicks into gear

Mousinho explained: “Last year, the difference was that we had the targets and they were available. We had the players we wanted and were able to complete the tasks.

‘We want to bring the proper players to the football club, players of Championship quality. We do not want to compromise on that, and we believe we are in a strong position.

‘We’ll move on to the next target as soon as we need to. But for the time being, we are content with our current situation.

‘Of course, we want to see things move, but we’re happy with where we are.

‘We do as well (want to sign). It would be wonderful if we could have every signing in on the first day of pre-season.

However, the second ideal case is to get the guys you want in at the correct time. The worst-case scenario for me is having the wrong players enter at the appropriate time.

‘So that’s how we intend to play it. Sometimes things happens rapidly, and during this transfer window, I believe everything happened more slowly.

‘That is not just at Portsmouth; we want the right players – and we will wait to do so.’
