SAD NEWS : Arizona Diamondbacks key player confirmed death in auto car accident

On Sunday, family sources notified MLB insider Mike Rodriguez that former pitcher Reyes Moronta, 31, died in an auto accident while driving a four-wheeler on his way home. His death was announced on the official X account of the Bravos de León, the Mexican League team for which he played this season. According to MLB’s transaction page, Moronta was released by León last Thursday.

Moronta played in Major League Baseball for six years before joining the Mexican League this season. He debuted with the San Francisco Giants in 2017. After four years in San Francisco, Moronta split his 2022 season between the Dodgers and the Diamondbacks.

With the Diamondbacks, Moronta struck out eleven.

The bullpen faced batters for 14 innings. Moronta made his final MLB appearance on May 24th, as a member of the Los Angeles Angels.
