Middlesbrough is well-stocked in midfield with new acquisition Aidan Morris, Jonny Howson, Hayden Hackney, and Dan Barlaser. Head coach Michael Carrick has urged patience with new Middlesbrough recruit Aidan Morris. The 22-year-old, who cost £3 million to sign from MLS side Columbus Crew in the summer transfer window, has impressed throughout Boro’s pre-season campaign.
In Wednesday’s goalless draw with Harrogate Town, he put on another impressive performance in the center of the park. Despite his impressive performances since arriving to Teesside, Morris is unlikely to be included in Carrick’s starting lineup for next week’s Championship opener against Swansea City at home. Boro’s midfield is well-stocked, and Morris will compete with Jonny Howson, Hayden Hackney, and Dan Barlaser.
But Carrick has been impressed with Morris’ adjustment to his new circumstances. He stated: “We obviously like him a lot. We’ve been watching him for a long and enjoy his style and approach to the game. We believe our style of play is appropriate for both ourselves and him.We will be patient with him. It is a shift for him. It’s a change of country, a completely new way of life for him, and he’s still young considering how much experience he has. We’ll help him settle in, which we’re doing right now, and look after him.

He plays like he’s a natural fit. Morris is likely to play in Middlesbrough’s final pre-season friendly tomorrow afternoon against Heerenveen. It is unclear whether Dael Fry will be involved against the Dutch. The center-back has been training, but Carrick wants to control Darragh Lenihan’s workload. The defensive duo missed large amounts of the previous season owing to injury.
