The Golden State Warriors have signed free agent forward Kyle Anderson to a three-year, $27 million contract, sources informed ESPN on Tuesday.
According to sources, the Warriors are conducting a sign-and-trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves to acquire Anderson in exchange for a future second-round pick swap plus cash. The Warriors are using a Traded Players Exception created by Klay Thompson’s departure to bring Anderson on board.
Sources say the deal includes a non-guaranteed third year.
Anderson, 30, spent the last two seasons with the Timberwolves, where he averaged 6.4 points, 4.2 assists, and 3.5 rebounds last season. He’s a dynamic forward with impressive playmaking abilities.
Anderson began his career with the San Antonio Spurs, then spent four seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies.
According to ESPN, the Warriors want to hire Terry Stotts as their lead assistant coach and Jerry Stackhouse as an assistant. Both are experienced head coaches who join Steve Kerr’s staff.
Stotts enjoyed a successful nine-year tenure with the Trail Blazers, while Stackhouse has been a G League and Southeastern Conference head coach since retiring as a player.
